“One benefit of summer was that each day we had more light to read by” Jeanette Walls, The Glass Castle
For those of us in the northern hemisphere, summer is well and truly upon us. The heat asks us to slow down and chill out. And what better way to do this than with a good book! In a moment I’ll share my top 5 good reads for the holidays. But first, an invitation.
How would you like to enter the summer holidays with a feeling of inner peace and contentment?
This is possible whatever is going on for you.
Join me and a gathering of beautiful souls on zoom for an hour on Wednesday 18 July at 8pm. There will be some input from me about inner peace, a group meditation for 20 minutes or so, and time for sharing at the end. The hour will be especially useful for busy professionals with a lot on their plates.
This is my gift to you for your support on my mailing list, as one of my website readers or on social media.
All you need to do is email me on firstname.lastname@example.org and I’ll add you to the list of attendees to send the details of the zoom login to. The only preparation required is to have zoom ready for use on your computer. The download is free at https://zoom.us/download.
If you wish to pass this gift on to others for whom it may be of value please forward this blog on to them or ask them to email me direct via email@example.com to request the zoom link.
And now for the books!
I have always been an avid reader. As a child books were my gateway to far off lands, knowledge and expansion. As an adult they remind me of the rich diversity in the world and the vast potentials and possibilities for positive change.
Given my book reading habit choosing 5 books for you has been a challenge! But I did it and here they are! As you might expect, considering the nature of my interests, passion and work, they are all about transformation in some form or another.
The Soul Of Money written by the inspirational global visionary and activist Lynne Twist. An incredible book on so many levels, it crosses the realms of personal, business and societal transformation and challenges the lie of scarcity. If you want to expand your thinking about money and its role in…well just about everything… this is the one for you.
How To Relax. In this tiny pocket sized book Thich Nhat Hanh helps us access the well of calm that is always within us. A beautiful and simple book with love and wisdom oozing from each of its 120 pages. A great one those with busy minds and a short attention span.
Radical Honesty. Not for the faint hearted, Brad Blanton’s “Radical Honesty: How to Transform Your Life By Telling the Truth” is shocking, entertaining and profoundly wise. This is for you if you want a self-help book with fire! The truth will indeed set you free.
The Untethered Soul. A truth seeking book of a different nature this New York Times Best Seller is a universally spiritual book with immense practical application. Michael Singer wrote The Untethered Soul whilst waiting for the outcome of a legal case against his multi billion-dollar public company (that’s another story in another of his books!). In it he shares the wisdom of a man, who through his life experience, is uniquely placed to guide us into inner peace and freedom.
Choosing Easy World. Julia Rogers Hamrick invites us through her beautiful words into a world of choice and ease. A delightful and easy read for the summer holidays, its simple message of Breathe…Relax…Allow…Enjoy is universal and particularly useful in the chaotic times we live in!
So there you have it. A summer reading list and an invitation to meet on zoom at 8pm on 18 July to lay the foundation for you feeling settled and content inside as you enter the summer holiday period.
To accept the invitation simply email me via firstname.lastname@example.org and a zoom link for the call will soon be winging its way to you.
And whatever you do this summer, books and zoom call aside, I wish you all the peace, contentment and joy in the world.
